The Sixth Sense

Life before this jersey dress was a sad affair. Before its simple cut, floral embellishment and waist-emphasizing tie belt came along, colors were duller, music was off-key and flowers smelled like cheap perfume. I'd like to thank Target for making my life complete with this $29.99 piece of heaven.
* grey H&M grandpa cardigan * navy Target jersey dress * brown Studio Polini boots *
*navy tights--Calvin Klein * lace earrings--gift from hubs * grey fuzzy hat--H&M *
I'm not even kidding about my love for this dress, y'all. Over my year of not shopping, I was able to seriously analyze my wardrobe and zero in on categories I was lacking. Number one? Dresses. I love a good dress, which is essentially an outfit unto itself. With the right accessories, a good dress can take me from work to dinner to synagogue to drinks with friends (all in the same day? Whew. Sounds tiring.) This dress has been my go-to for meetings with potential grad school advisors, and I even convinced a coworker to buy it. We matched on Sunday.
One of the interns asked if we were wearing the same dress. When I said yes, she said "Oooh.. awkward." As you can see, we matched on purpose... sadly, my 30x30 doesn't include a light brown cardi or it would have been perfect.
On Friday, my sister asked if I was really doing the 30x30 challenge. When I replied in the affirmative, she shot back: "Well, I've been wearing the same skirt for the past 5 days. Take that." Word.

Your sister is funny!
I agree a good dress (and especially a jersey dress) is essential. This was a great find.

LOL your sister's comment is so funny! I wish I had the body and the curves to wear this type of dress but I lack those things so I stray away from dresses that will make me look like a rectagle brick, however on you it looks beautiful. What a nice thing that your friend bought it, most women don't like for other girls to wear the same thing on the same day, I never understood why, but kuddos for you two! =D

You didn't shop for a whole year? That's kind of amazing...I don't think I could ever pull that off! I have a similar dress from the Gap, and it almost made it into my 30 items as well. Navy jersey dresses are so versatile!

cozy little outfit. i love jersey dresses for their ability to be comfy and cross over seasons but i hate how they show every flaw! or, um, panty lines? haha. anybody else have that issue??

I love the dresses you found at Target, but I keep forgetting to look at them in the store. One day....

Wearing or owning something you know someone else has just means you get to be more creative in how you wear it. I have one friend who often buys the same shirts as me and we wear them totally differently. It's great to see the different options I never thought of. The same thing hapens with my sister, too.
