The Finer Things

I rarely get a chance to post my nicest outfits of the week, since I don't use electricity on Sabbath. But I liked this outfit from Saturday so much that I recreated the looks for a little picture-taking. Hubs laughed.
The list:
-white button-down, Banana Republic
-creme polka dotted skirt, Zoe D.
-sandals of death (will explain), Lucky Brand
-cluster flower earrings, F21
-black straw cloche, Sherel's
Debutantes have derbys. Brits have weddings. And Orthodox Jews have synagogue on Saturday. What is the connection? Fancy hats! Though you see my everyday headgear nearly every day here, I haven't shown off some of my favorite weekend pieces. This hat is definitely up there.
Ah, the shoes. I bought these nearly a month ago and have worn them for a total of about 4 hours. Make that 4 painful, blistery hours. I've foot petal-d, I've moleskined, and I still had to run home and change out of them before lunch because the back zip was digging into my ankle so. Any suggestions on making these beauts wearable? I hate leaving things just for show in my closet, and need your help.

Once upon a time (aka last year), I'd have saved this skirt for Sabbath or other dressy occasions (not really sure why, but I used to wear a jean skirt pretty much every.single.day.) Since deciding to wear everything by mixing casual and fancy, my style has evolved significantly in a direction with which I'm quite happy.
Do you save your nice pieces, or are they everyday wear?

you could loosen up the buckle belts of the shoes, I always do that with my shoes when they hurt in certain places and if they still hurt I put on band aids to kill the pain a bit.

I just noticed that I have pretty clothes I only wear to church and have a hard time wearing anywhere else because I can't seem to dress them down, they are my special clothes to wear to church, I really hate wearing them everywhere else...but at the same time I wish I would so my nice clothes could come out more often.

Some nice pieces (ie. dresses) are just too nice for everyday wear... and probably would look silly wearing them to do the grocery shopping! But I do try to buy nice pieces that can be dressed down for everyday wear or dressed up when I want. :)
I think if you buy something, you need to wear it and not just 'save it' for a special time.

Why are all of the cute shoes so darn painful?! My favorites gave me blisters that I still have weeks later...it's just not worth the pain. At least your hat is pain free and super adorable.

I do save both my nice pieces and my painful shoes for quick, special occasions where they won't get much wear or tear into my ankles :) Those shoes are amazing though, so sad they aren't comfy! I wish I had better advice than to just save them for fall with tights..

That hat is so pretty! Not that I was around for them, but I do miss the days when people made more of an effort to look nice when they went out. Granted, I love me some shorts and a baggy tee, but admittedly I look like a slob.

Sorry about the sucky shoes. I'm not sure if blister block would do anything for the rubbing in the back? And maybe even take them by a shoe cobbler and see if they have any recs - pretty footwear shouldn't be banished to the closets.
