Want to Buy a Duck?

Woohoo! We just got a major grant for the new tour I've been working on. It is nice to know government institutions think you're doing a good job. I'm also spending time on the work blog, which is set to launch today. All in all, packed but exciting times.

Today I am wearing:
-corduroy pleated duck skirt, Anthropologie
-white tee, Rebecca Beeson
-yellow cardi, Paper Denim and Cloth
-brown tights, H&M
-brown boots, Studio Polini
-diamond bezel necklace, Dad
-yellow hat, Grace Hats

(that is a tissue in my pocket, not a tumor.)

As I've noted before, something seriously lacking in my closet is a nice selection of patterned skirts. I've got pencil skirts in black, navy, grey, jean and white, and a serious corduroy addiction, but a nice hit of color or motif would be nice on my bottom half sometimes. Today I am wearing what is probably my favorite of the few patterned skirts I do own, this masterpiece of brightly colored ducks on a neutral background. Ok, I know it is corduroy, but it is a step in the right direction, right?

I paired it with a long-sleeved tee and a yellow cardigan to bring out some of the color in the ducks. I love the little self-bow on this cardigan. I sometimes swap it out for a belt, but the bow seemed right to me today.

And I got a manicure for the first time in too long. I picked this fun OPI color which keeps changing from blue to green in different lights. Nothing like some dark polish to make you feel a tiny bit edgy (even when wearing cartoon characters on your clothing.)

And lastly, I'd like to thank La Historiadora de Moda of Fashionable Academics for last night's shoutout, and for sending me the most beautiful scarf, which I won in a recent giveaway. This is the first thing I've ever won, and I can't wait to style it in an upcoming outfit.
