Daytime Brocade

Sun! Light! What a pleasant change from yesterday.

Today I am wearing:
-light lavender button down, Ralph Lauren
-creme fuzzy sweater, Ann Taylor Loft
-silver and black brocade skirt, Kenneth Cole
-black tights
-black oxford flats, C G
-purple snakeskin skinny belt, Calvin Klein
-black wool beret, Target
Today's outfit is all about making my brocade skirt work-appropriate. What could be better than something that shimmers and sparkles as you go about your day at work? I love doing this with both formal and incredibly casual pieces- why don't I wear things that are inherently business casual? Hmmm...

Anyway, I used my old standby- layering a sweater, button down and belt with the skirt to tone it down a bit.

Gorgeous skirt! I love the pockets (of course) but also how you've styled it. The belt creates a fantastic silhouette and great proportions. Lovely background, too!

You are ace at this. It's really amazing to see, because I never buy super fancy skirts, precisely because I can't imagine getting much use out of them. You make it look so logical!

Sara- the pockets were what sold me on the skirt, and of course I remembered to bring my phone to work, unlike last week. As for the background, I feel lucky every day to work in such a beautiful building.

Emily- thanks! Wearing my fancy skirts regularly is so new for me, and your comment is so encouraging!
